NDM Series: external double revolving truck with yardarm, gaff and rope halyards
The nautical double mast flagpole is the most traditional maritime flagpole Concord American makes. High-strength aluminum brackets join an offset double shaft, and every pole comes with both a yardarm and a gaff, recreating the rig of a historic sailing vessel. With five halyards it can fly up to five flags, which makes it a centerpiece for yacht clubs, marinas, harbors, waterfront estates, museums and maritime-themed properties. The NDM Series comes in 9 models from 30 ft to 80 ft.
How Flags Are Flown on a Double Mast Nautical Pole
In maritime tradition the gaff is the position of honor, so the U.S. flag flies from the gaff even though it sits lower than the top of the pole. A club burgee or organization flag flies at the top, and state, company, officer or signal flags fly from the yardarm. This is the arrangement used by yacht clubs and the U.S. Power Squadrons. How to Choose
- Height. 30 ft suits waterfront homes, lake houses and small marinas. 35 to 40 ft fits yacht clubs, community entrances and commercial properties. 50 ft and taller is for marinas, resorts, harbors and municipal sites seen from a distance.
- Butt diameter and wall thickness. At each height, a larger base and a thicker wall make a stiffer, stronger pole. Choose the heavier model for open waterfronts and high-wind areas.
- One-piece or multi-section. Poles with more than one section ship in shorter pieces, which makes delivery easier to residential and limited-access sites.
- Finish. Satin (brushed aluminum), or bronze tone, black, white or clear powder coat. White is the traditional look of a ship's mast.

- Extruded aluminum flagpole bands with stainless steel attaching hardware

- Five 5/16" #10 polyester rope halyards with ten stainless steel swivel flagsnaps and ten neoprene flagsnap covers
- Five 9" heavy-duty aluminum cleats
- Spun aluminum FC-11 flash collar
- Galvanized 16-gauge corrugated steel ground sleeve with steel grounding spike
Models with 10" and 12" butts are upgraded to a heavy-duty truck with dual sealed bearings, 3/8" #12 halyards, heavy-duty flagsnaps, a 5/8" ball stem and a cast aluminum flash collar.
Options
- Cast aluminum sealed-bearing gold powder-coated ball and truck (8", 10" and 12" butts)
- Cast aluminum FC-11 flash collar in place of the standard spun collar
