Ameritex Flag & Flagpole carries the full line of commercial-grade aluminum flagpoles from Concord American Flagpole, from 15 ft residential poles to 80 ft landmark poles and the 100 ft APEX. Every series is offered in satin, clear anodized, dark bronze or black anodized, and powder coat finishes, and each product page lists the specifications, wind rating, flag size and shipping weight for that model.
The biggest choice is the halyard system: how the rope or cable that raises the flag is run, and how well it is protected from theft and vandalism.
External Halyard Flagpoles
The rope halyard runs on the outside of the pole and ties off on a cleat at the base. External halyard poles cost the least and are the simplest to maintain, which makes them a good fit for homes, churches and businesses where flag security is not a concern.

The rope halyard runs inside the pole and ties off on a cam cleat behind a locking access door. The flag cannot be lowered or stolen without a key, and the halyard never slaps against the pole. Internal cam cleat poles are a less expensive alternative to internal winch poles and come in heights from 20 ft to 40 ft.

A stainless steel wire cable runs inside the pole and is raised and lowered with a removable hand crank on an internal winch. Winch poles need the least maintenance and give the most security: there is no rope to cut, and the flag cannot be lowered without the crank. They come in heights from 20 ft to 80 ft, in three door styles, plus the white Presidential Collection, two high wind versions and the 100 ft APEX.

- Height. Match the pole to the building and the viewing distance: 20 to 25 ft for homes, 30 to 35 ft for most businesses and schools, and 40 ft and up for large commercial sites and highway frontage.
- Wind rating. Every model lists its maximum wind speed with a nylon flag. In open, coastal or high-wind locations, choose a larger base diameter or thicker wall, or look at the Xtreme High Wind Series.
- Security. If flag theft or vandalism is a concern, choose an internal halyard pole. Winch poles offer the most protection.
