How Flags Are Flown on a Single Mast Nautical Flagpole
This pole has three halyards: one to the top of the mast and one to each end of the yardarm. By tradition the U.S. flag flies at the top of the mast. State, club, company or signal flags fly from the yardarm arms, so one pole can display up to three flags at once. If you would like to fly the U.S. flag from a gaff in true maritime style, ask us about adding an optional gaff.
Choosing the Right 60 ft Model
Concord American offers 3 Nautical Single Mast models at 60 ft. They share the same height and yardarm, and differ in base (butt) diameter, wall thickness and the number of sections:
- NSM60F13 (this model): 10" butt, .250" wall, 3 sections, about 763 lb
- NSM60D13: 10" butt, .188" wall, 3 sections, about 701 lb
- NSM60F23: 12" butt, .250" wall, 3 sections, about 867 lb
A larger butt and a thicker wall make a stiffer, stronger pole for open waterfronts and high-wind areas. Multi-section poles ship in shorter pieces, which makes delivery easier to residential and limited-access sites.
